Old Sayings

This is a list of sayings that I have heard over the years.  If you have some that you think should be added please let me know.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

They don’t have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of.

A fool and his money is soon parted.

They are not worth the powder and matches it would take to blow them to hell.

The boss isn’t always right, but he’s always the boss.

Don’t shoot the messenger.

Red sky at night, sailor’s delight.

Red sky at morning, sailor’s take warning.

Strike while the iron is hot.

Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it.

Blind as a bat.

Nice guys finish last.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Walk in like you own the place.

Common sense ain’t so common.

It’s hell to grow old, but it beats the alternative.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

The early bird gets the worm.

Politician are only lying when their lips are moving.
